THE G – SPOT line up

zip icon THE BIG BLUE with support THE FLARE

Thursday 8 October 2009

Yes they're back, the ever popular BIG BLUE playing their great mix of blues classics from Hendrix, Clapton,Cream through to Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf and of course Stevie Ray Vaughan.

You will recall that on their last visit to the G – Spot a live recording was made by Yellow Fish Music Group and tonight you will be able to buy a copy of the CD of that recording – superb quality including great vocals especially the intro !!

Don't miss another great night when again Stuart, Andy and Dave will be pulling out all the stops to leave you shouting for more !

Making their G -Spot debut tonight are THE FLARE a great young band who narrowly missed out on winning this year's Uckfield's Got Talent. Their superb performances in the heats and the final secured them tonight's spot when you can expect to hear some Arctic Monkeys covers and also some great original songs.

zip icon THE VIOLET JIVE

Thursday 22 October 2009

The Violet Jive first appeared here as part of a Paul Dunton and guests evening in February and proved a great hit. I have since seen them at The Grey Lady topping the bill on a great evening which also featured Harmony Glen ( who incidentally are great fans of The Violet Jive ).

A swing sound with feverish latino edges and a cool dark alternative twist, based on strong songs, colourful lyrics, exciting rhythms and sprinklings of musical prowess. The band features Double Bass and Drums alongside Steve Spall's 'filthy' jazz guitar and breathy vocals and occasionally either hot Sax or cool Trumpet.

There may possibly be some surprise guests !

zip icon PAUL DUNTON AND GUESTS

Thursday 5 November 2009

Paul who runs his own hugely successful music club at The Grey Lady in Tunbridge Wells returns with a another great line up of very talented musicians. I feel I must congratulate Paul here on putting on the recent Local & Live Festival in the Pantiles at Tunbridge Wells when over the August Bank Holiday weekend he arranged for over 50 acts to perform all free of charge to the Public. I understand that something in the region of 10,000 people attended over the weekend!

Tonight's line up is as follows:

THE KITCHEN POET

A captivating singer/songwriter with enchanting vocals, beautifully crafted melodic songs and thought provoking lyrics. www.myspace.com/thekitchenpoet

PAUL DUNTON AND CREW

Wonderfully atmospheric contemporary piano based style with a classical slant featuring Paul's 'Crew' comprised of Cello, Flute and Violins.

THE JEMIMA PRICE BAND

Led by the supremely talented songwriter Jemima Price, this superb 4 piece offers an evocative mix of folk, rock, jazz and blues with a good dose of old fashioned story telling. The line up features double bass, percussion, and guitar alongside Jemima's breathtaking vocals. Absolutely outstanding!

NO EVENT due to The Cinque Port's own arrangements

zip icon THE NIGEL BAGGE BAND with EDDIE ARMER

Thursday 3 December 2009

This evening sees the final gig of the year at The G – Spot and what a way to sign off with a great night of blues, country rock and R'n B. Nigel and the guys made their first appearance here in January and made such an impression that they were asked to do The Uckfield Festival's Blues Night which again was a great success.

Nigel has worked with people such as Chris Farlowe, Peter Green and Miller Anderson and has gained a great reputation in the Blues world. Also listen out for the superb Eddie Armer who is a genius on harmonica and also superb on Mandolin. Eddie is the frontman of The Lonnigans ( the UK's premier Skiffle band ) and has performed with the likes of Long John Baldry and Pete Seeger.

Just magic !!
